Weekend Update

Weekend Update with Jimmy Fallon and Tiny Fey was the best. I don’t watch SNL religiously anymore, but they were a good duo.

As for my Labor Day weekend update, it was filled with not very much laboring. Although, we did manage to clean the house, put together a TV stand, and rearrange some TV’s in the house. We bought a new one, so the “old” one will have a new home in our soon to be completed basement family room. Mr. BKL has been hard at work painting doors and trim. We also put the doors back on their frames. Now we just need a nice little couch, new lights, and maybe some decorations and it will be a cozy little space. I want to make this Karlstad couch from Ikea happen. I need to come up with the right combination of pieces so that it will fit in the small space.

It has to be about half that size. Or this one:

This is the Kivik. Lots of modular pieces, now I just need to figure out the pieces I need.

I got to spend the day Saturday getting my hair did and hanging out with two of my favorite girls, as well as my nephews who wouldn’t let me sit for a minute. We must play catch/run/throw/bike/play at all times!

Sunday was 12 grueling miles. I seem to have caught a cold of some sorts that gave me a stuffy head and some kind of stiff neck. Most of the miles went well, but the last 3 were a struggle. My body was just not having it. Too bad since it was about 58 degrees. Same thing happened on Monday.  I set out for an easy 4 miles but each step was a struggle. To say I am discouraged for Saturday’s race would be an understatement. I really hope it’s just this cold that is making me feel like the worst runner in the world. If not, and my malaise continues this week, the 10 miles on Saturday will be an exercise in “easy run.” Ugggh.

Food wise, we made what is becoming a favorite pasta dish.

It’s really easy, actually and makes a lot of servings. Now that fall is here I have been craving chili and might have to make a batch this weekend. Especially with football on the horizon. As you know from my last post, I am not as big into fall as most people seem to be. The change in seasons is always welcome but the pessimist in me can see November on the horizon. Cold, short days. Yuck. Let’s bask in the fall glow while we can, shall we?

I have a fun fitness related purchase to share with you all later this week, too. Can’t wait!

Something to discuss: I tweeted last week about the similarities between Shania Twain in general and Lady Gaga’s song “You and I”. I figured I wasn’t the only one and it turns out Shelby thought the same.
