Hi blog friends! Just wanted to write a little ditty about how I haven’t had much to say lately. I’m sure you’ve noticed. Or maybe not. Food wise, we have been cooking a lot of favorites which are repeats, so not exactly exciting blog fodder.
Since the 10 miler, I have been running for fun and for the most part, leaving the Garmin at home. I am no doubt running slower, but it’s okay. I am just running for fun and enjoying the cool fall weather. It’s been long sleeves and shorts weather for the majority of the past two weeks around here. I’ve been doing a lot of listening to The Black Keys on these fun runs. I guess I am in a bluesy kind of mood.
Speaking of running, a certain someone who claimed he would never use the treadmill has now used it twice. That’s only one less time than I’ve used it. Even if this certain someone only uses it half as much as I do, the investment will be more than worth it. A related PSA here…if you are in the market for a treadmill and are going to be housing it in your 1950’s built house basement, be sure to take into account the ceiling height. At 5’-7”, I have enough head room, but the other user of the treadmill is more like 6’-1”, and will most likely never be able to use the incline. Something I would have never thought of!
I’m also dedicating (or trying to dedicate) two days a week to strength training. My muscles have been retaliating upon having to wake up, and I have been quite sore. Now that I’m not at a gym anymore, my lifting will mostly be comprised of dumbbell work. I still have my barbell and plates, but heavy back squats won’t be possible. I am going to focus on a lot of single leg work to make up for it. Next week I will post what I have been doing. I know a lot of people are always looking for strength routines. I have absolutely no business telling or advising anyone how to lift of course, but I have learned a thing or two over the years. Perhaps what I do and why can help a few people.
Welp, that’s all I got for now. A busy weekend lies ahead complete with a wedding and a special 6th birthday for my nephew. His gift request? A Chicago Bears jersey. Number 6. Let’s just say Mr. BKL was proud.
