Seven Things

Greetings blog readers. I have returned from my mini-vacay to Chicago and am trying to get caught up at work, at home, and on sleep. Not to mention my Google reader which is hovering somewhere around 700 unread posts. Ah, if only my job was to sit and read blogs. But alas, somebody has to fill out those TPS reports.

Here’s my very belated seven things meme post, for which I was nominated by Atlanta Running Mom.

What this is about:

To unite bloggers (from all sectors) in a joint endeavor to share lessons learned and create a bank of long but not forgotten blog posts that deserve to see the light of day again.

Rules:

1) Blogger is nominated to take part
2) Blogger publishes his/her 7 links on his/her blog – 1 link for each category.
3) Blogger nominates up to 5 more bloggers to take part.
4) These bloggers publish their 7 links and nominate another 5 more bloggers
5) And so it goes on!
6) The site Trip Base be sharing the best posts from participating bloggers on their blog and everyday on Facebook and Twitter at #My7Links

1. My Most Beautiful Post(s)

Happy Birthday, Dad
Mom

I like to think the posts I have written about my family are beautiful. I sometimes have a hard time expressing the way when I am in person, but have always been better at putting the right words on paper.

2. My Most Popular Post

This continues to be the About Tab. I know, pretty boring. I always click on the About tab on new blogs, too.

Second most popular is one titled “On the Glo Bars.” I am guessing it’s because of the popularity of Oh She Glows and people looking for some recipes. They are pretty good!

3. My most controversial post

Can’t say I have anything that constitutes controversial. If I do, please let me hear it! I keep a lot of what I have to say about things like politics, the blog world, fitness trends, etc to myself. For better or for worse I guess. I think this post, Why Exercise Won’t Make You Thin, did stir up some controversy at the time. Not necessarily from me, but in the health and fitness industry in general.

4. My most helpful post

If’s, And’s, or Butt’s

I think my If’s, and’s, or Butt’s post was really helpful. I think a lot of women are still afraid to bulk up, but toning the tush is something we all want.

Runner Up: Go Wear Fit Series. Part 1 and Part 2.

5. A post whose success surprised me

Slow Cooker Pulled Chicken.

This is a great recipe and it’s been handed off to many of my friends. It’s a great crowd pleaser. I honestly didn’t take much time in writing or photographing it. I might have to spruce it up one of these days.

6. A post I feel didn’t get the attention it deserved

It was one of the first posts I wrote, but I still feel it’s important regarding women, fitness, health, and body composition.

Pink Dumbbell vs. 45 Pound Plates

Keep in mind while reading that I was in the midst of losing weight and was psyched about lifting at the time. It has some great links at the bottom though.

7. The post(s) I am most proud of

I  am very proud of the posts I wrote where I “came clean” about being unemployed for nearly a year. I never shared it on the blog when it happened and during that difficult time because I didn't want to sound like a Debbie Downer all the time.

A Long Time Coming, Part 1
A Long Time Coming, Part 2

If you ever want to ask me anything about being unemployed, feel free to contact me. I think having people who have been in the same situation is crucial. I did face some judgment from some people and it was hard for me to stay strong. No one really knows what it’s like until they are there. I hope you yourself or anyone in your life has to go through it, but if you do, know that you are far from alone. Things will get better. I should probably re-read those posts when I am feeling stressed at my current job.

So there you have it. I had fun delving into my Google Analytics page and now hopefully you have some posts you may have not read from the archives. I have had this little ditty of a blog since 2008 after all.

And again, feel free to ask me any questions about any of the above – or more! I wish I had more time to put all my thoughts each day on the blog. But I am kind of weird, so maybe you don’t want to know what goes on in my head each day.

Now some nominations….and please don’t feel like you have to play. And if you already have, I am a terrible blog friend and am still catching up on my Google reader. I got it down to 548 today. Sucess!
